About Me – Philippa Lyons

I’m a UK qualified, native English-speaking therapist. I have changed careers working in both corporate and non-for-profit sectors in the UK and Europe. I am a humanistic practitioner, this means I work collaboratively with my clients to help them gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I do not diagnose or follow set treatment plans, nor do I advice clients on what they should do. I guide my clients through in self-discovery of their past or present challenges, and support them in finding authentic and meaningful ways forward. to them.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How fast will we walk?

We’ll walk at whatever pace works for you. From a stroll to a brisk walk, whatever speed at any given moment feels right.

What if I see someone I know?

During the consultation call we’ll form plans for handling a range of situations including how we navigate bumping into people we know.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable walking in. The routes we’ll cover are mostly flat with some slopes and steps. Terrain is varied underfoot from cement paths to grassy tracks which can get muddy in wet weather and dry and dusty in the heat. There are some areas of light shelter under tree canopies, but mostly the park is exposed to the elements. I suggest comfortable shoes and weather appropriate layers.

Do we have to walk the whole time, can we take a break?

I choose routes with benches and places to sit so there are always options to take a break from walking.

Why do you only offer up to 10 sessions?

I offer Walk & Talk therapy as a short-term therapy. It can be highly effective in up to 10 sessions as an explorative and self-insight driven therapy. Should you feel you need further support or would like to follow up with another therapeutic intervention I can help you identify other therapies or therapists.

What about confidentiality?

Privacy is paramount in therapy, in Walk & Talk therapy, outside, there is naturally less privacy than in a therapy room. Although I make efforts to keep our discussions as private as possible, some aspects of conversation may be overheard by passers by, it’s something to consider about whether this therapy is a good fit for the conversations you’d like to have.

Is Walk & Talk therapy physical exercise?

While walking benefit clients physically, the focus is not about exercise. Prior to engaging in Walk and Talk Therapy, clients will be in good physical condition and do not suffer from any known condition which would prevent or limit their participation. Route and pace can be adapted to meet you needs however, clients take full responsibility for their medical and physical well-being during each session.

I’m not familiar with Villa Doria Pamphili park, how do I get there and where will we meet?

We’ll discuss routes, meeting and ending locations and other logistical arrangements during the consultation call.
